The Learning Resources Centre (LRC) is located in the Hive. A vibrant, bustling hub, housing both print and electronic resources accessible in situ or on the go through . Students can borrow up to two books at a time, for two weeks.ÌýQuiet working spaces for homework, silent reading zones, IT facilities and break out areas for group work/classwork are all on offer in the LRC.

Plus, e-books can be borrowed by downloading the Wheeler’s e-book platform app. Students can renew, reserve and recommend books for the LRC at any time. Book donations are always welcomed!

The LRC’s Showbie Group provides all our students at ßÏÅ®ÊÓƵ with the opportunity to access some of the LRC’s resources & activities, whilst at home e.g. e-books, book related activities, competitions and quizzes. Encouraging students to gain the many benefits of reading and participating in book related activities, with other likeminded Manor students.

Opening Times/Access:

The LRC is accessible to students during registration with their Form Tutor and independently at lunchtimes and after school. Closing at 4.15pm Monday to Thursday. All students can enter the LRC at lunchtimes.

However, due to the success of the Mobile Library Service last year it remains in operation, delivering resource requests direct to students at registration through the email/booking form request service. Ìý

Low-cost stationery is available from the Stationery Shop throughout the day and students are able to complete homework, borrow and return books, use computers or their iPads in the zones provided. Plus, it is a space for quiet reading, book discussion and individual study too. Ìý

Clubs:

• Homework Club: Every day after school
  Homework Club offers students a quiet place to undertake homework with resources at hand and staff support, if required.
• LRC Student Assistants: On A Rota Basis
  LRC Student Assistants support the Librarian in the LRC at lunchtimes by returning and shelving books, creating competitions for our regular Quiz Thursday lunchtime slot and recommending books for the LRC. Aiding their fellow pupils to find resources through Eclipse.net and in the LRC during peak times.
• Chess Club Thursday:Ìýafter-school
  A great place to learn and improve your chess skills through our chess league table. The benefits of chess are well documented. Win prizes and medals along the way!
• Quiz Day: Thursday lunchtimes
  Compete against your fellow pupils on general knowledge, book related and subject specific quizzes each week.
• Film Club: Mondays & Tuesdays after school
  Showing films over the course of two afternoons this fun club offers students the chance to discuss the latest films in a warm and friendly setting.
• Board Game Club: Wednesday after school
  A great club to attend with likeminded board game enthusiasts. It’s friendly, fast pace, and great fun! All manner of games played including: Articulate, Sort-it-Out, Rushhour and battleships. Students are encouraged to bring their own board games in too.
• Chatterbooks Book Club: Date/Time TBA
  Chatterbooks Book Club is a well-attended Book Club. Exclusively for students in years 7-9 for book reviews, competitions, creative writing and book discussions.ÌýÌý Ìý
• Leeds Book Awards: Date/Time TBA
  This Book Awards offers a wealth of challenging reads with two different age categories. With 5 titles to read within 4 months it’s a challenge and requires a level of maturity to complete! Students who complete the challenge are able to attend the Awards Ceremony to meet all the attending authors.
